As reported in the Ballarat Times and Golden Plains Times, Lal Lal Wind Farms’ Community Benefit Fund has passed $1 million in total grants since launching in 2017! This week’s ceremony at the Lal Lal Soldiers Memorial Hall saw nine local groups share over $140,000 in new funding — bringing the number of organisations supported since construction to 26.
This year’s recipients:
- Bungaree Recreation Reserve – $60,000
- Clarendon Recreation Reserve – $17,905
- Dunnstown Community Centre – $18,000
- Dunnstown Netball Club – $7,730
- Elaine Recreation Reserve – $15,000
- Lal Lal Memorial Hall – $3,245
- Lal Lal Primary School – $10,000
- Yendon Junior Fire Brigade – $3,150
- Yendon Recreation Reserve – $7,400
The funds will go towards projects such as a netball court grandstand at Dunnstown, solar batteries at Dunnstown Community Reserve, and upgraded furniture and equipment at Lal Lal Soldiers Memorial Hall.
Sue Witherspoon, deputy chair of the CBF committee, said the fund helps turn community ideas into action. Nate Moir of Atmos Renewables added that the fund is now eyeing bigger “legacy” projects, inviting local groups to bring their boldest ideas forward.
The next application round opens around April 2027 — details to follow on the Lal Lal Wind Farms website.
